Four Wheel Drive Vehicles

Driving on mountain access roads in New Zealand is tough. Generally they are dirt roads with few safety barriers. Winter conditions make them icy and dangerous. For greater safety, we use 4 wheel drive vehicles.

Daily Service

From June through to October, we operate every day that Mt Hutt is open. We check the ski reports as soon as they are available each day and will notify you if the field is closed (if it's open, you won't hear from us, we'll just pick you up as planned). If there is another option available, we will go to another ski field but if we have to cancel the trip before we leave Christchurch, you'll get a full refund, or we can transfer your ticket to another day.

Minimum numbers do apply to enable us to operate the service. We will notify you as early as practical, if we need to cancel the trip or offer an alternative day or ski field.

In the rare event that the ski field closes while we are on route and there is no alternative field available, there may be a partial charge for transport (depending on how far we get).

Door to Door Transport

Our service comes direct to your door. We cover most of the Christchurch area with a few constraints to ensure efficiency of service. If you are outside our service area, we have a few fixed points that you can come to (and we'll give you a $10 discount for doing so).

No transfers between vehicles

We believe that 'door to door' service means that you are delivered from the door we pick you up from, to the door you are carried to. The vehicle that picks you up in the morning is the vehicle that takes you to the mountain. We don't stop part way to put you in a bigger bus or make you wait in a queue to get home again. The same vehicle takes you home again and your seat is guaranteed for the day.

Departs Christchurch Central 7am

With a door to door service there will be some variation in your pick up time. Eastern suburbs are usually about 6.40am, Western suburbs about 7.20am

Our aim is to have you on the mountain by 9am. We achieve this most days and take pride in consistently being the first Christchurch Shuttle on the mountain each day. Occasionally, road, traffic, or other conditions slow us down but it's unusual if we are any later than 9.30am on the mountain.

Leaves Mt Hutt 4pm

We ask all our guests to be back at their vehicle at 3.45pm for a 4.00pm departure. This allows us to sneak off the mountain just ahead of the bigger buses that hold up traffic on the access road. This also gets you back to Christchurch between 5.30pm and 6.00pm

If weather conditions change during the day and the ski field closes early we leave as soon we get everyone one back to the vehicle. No queues, no waiting, your guaranteed seat is ready for you as soon as it is time to leave.

All of our drivers are Skiers and/or Snowboarders and know exactly what you need for the day. Connects with Methven Service

Make the most of your ski holiday and connect with our Methven Service.

If you are planning a longer ski holiday and want to stay in Methven (the resort town at the base of Mt Hutt), you can connect with our Methven service once you are on the mountain. This allows you to take in a full day of Skiing or Snowboarding on the same day that you transfer to Methven. Use any other service and you won't get more than a half day at best.

Your driver will ensure you connect with the correct vehicle once you are on the mountain.
